A village of fields and waterways near Zhujiajiao, Shanghai. Behind the trees are homes, studios, a teahouse and a small bar: places where daily life and new ideas meet.
A sense of place
An ordinary village, full of possibility.
Zhangma has fields, canals and six natural village settlements. Ourland’s work here began with a question: what could a village offer beyond sightseeing and a room for the night?
The answer has grown through the people who live and work here. Designers, artists and small business owners share a village with its established residents. A home can also be a studio; a small bar can become a meeting place.
